Getting NIMBY on Tent City Capitol Hill

Since Tent City’s arrival in the neighborhood, here are all the things that have not happened in our backyard — or anybody else’s that we’ve heard about.

  • Not in my backyard has anybody tried to burglarize the house
  • Nobody has busted into our car or even bothered to sleep in my occasionally unlocked truck
  • Not in my backyard have we noticed any extra late-night noise (except for Tully’s parking lot paint job!)

Really, the most obvious sign of Tent City’s presence is there are more people walking around the neighborhood and we’re not alone on the bus for a change. We did witness one couple from the City having an argument on the street which isn’t really typical for this neck of the woods but that’s only because we keep our domestic disputes safely insulated inside our expensive Capitol Hill homes. Given how hot in must be inside those tents these summer nights, I’d rather do my yelling on the street corner too.
