Halloween moved to Saturday

Supposedly, Halloween this year falls on a Tuesday. This is a bad idea. Weeknight Halloweens are sad. You need a full day to prepare for proper trick-or-treating and a full day to recuperate from the trick-or-treating. And to try to get the crappy hair dye out. This does not work on a Tuesday.

So, Halloween 2006, and all Halloweens going forward, have been moved to the last Saturday of October. Last year, when we were young, we made this announcement way too late. There was confusion. There were empty candy bowls. Some dressed as naughty nurses on Saturday, some on Monday. It was chaos.

This year, let it be clear. Halloween is on Saturday October 28th. And we'll have our bowls of candy and a rotten pumpkin or two ready to go. We're not sure how much trick-or-treating goes on in our new 'hood but we're expecting a few more little kiddies than we saw last year in downtown condosville. Is it still tradition to truck children to the richy-rich neighborhoods for candy collection duties? We're hoping so. BTW, if we get our act together, we're hoping to produce a Halloween candy-quality forecast map for our part of Capitol Hill. Stay tuned and we'll see you on Saturday.
