My husband found a ferret walking on the sidewalk on Pine Street between 18th & 19th today, not far from Trader Joe’s on Capitol Hill/Central Area. It started following him, so he picked it up and took it home to rescue it from the snow and ice.
If anyone knows someone who lost their ferret, please have them contact us as soon as possible. We’ll post signs and try to spread the word by email.
Alternately, if anyone has recommendations on whom to call or where to take it (that won’t euthanize), please let us know.
Or, if anyone has a spare ferret cage or ferret food (what do they eat?) or wants to be a ferret foster home, that would be great too. I hope we can find its owner soon.
You should make sure to check in with Seattle Animal Control, as a person who has lost a pet should check with them, and they probably have a place where you can put a listing or a flyer.
If nobody turns up, there is a great small critter rescue organization in the north end of the city:

Ferrets are often microchipped, ’cause they’re escape artists. Take it somewhere to be scanned (vet clinic, shelter).
