When K and I (me, J) started this blog back on
Jan. 12, 2006, we had a few simple goals:
- Get to know our new neighborhood
- Write about the good stuff in hopes that more good stuff would happen
- Sometimes write about the bad stuff in hopes that less bad stuff would happen
- Learn about how the Internet is put together and how people interact with it
- Make it all last
It's been a lot of fun and full of all sorts of strange and wonderful
twists and
turns. All along, we've had our eye on #5 -- how to make CHS last.
Today, I'm happy to tell you about a new strange and wonderful turn -- I'm leaving my job at Microsoft (where I've been working on
this) to start a crazy new project building a nationwide network of neighborhood blogs. Lots of exciting things about this for me -- not the least of which is I get to work downtown after commuting across 520 for years -- and, I think, lots of exciting things to come for local blogging. I've seen so many good sites come and go -- I can't wait to be part of something that might help great neighborhood sites stick around and thrive. I'll tell you more about the project as it comes together but, for now, I just want to thank you all for being part of the fun and making Capitol Hill Seattle happen. Thanks also to my trusty sidekick K for listening to me moan when I get blogging block, removing the corniest of my corny jokes and for coming up with posts I'd never think of in a million years.
So, again, thanks -- CHS will keep rolling along just like always, writing about good stuff and, sometimes, the bad. I hope all of you will stick around, too.
