Does Syrup ride the 43?

I've been writing about tagging a lot lately because, a) we got tagged and b) I think it represents a really interesting challenge. I love street art -- I didn't love it when some dipshit spray-canned my fence.

My fascination has me looking everywhere for clues and answers so my ears perked up when I heard a 12-year-old talking about tagging with his even-younger-looking buddy on the #43. As they passed down the aisle and waited for the next stop, I strained to make out the words. They were talking about taggers. They talked about friends and their latest triumphs and failures. Then I heard the older kid say, "I do Syrup. I'm Syrup."

The younger friend was incredulous. I was fascinated. Could this little kid really be responsible for tags I see from one end of the city to the other? Is he full of shit? Is he part of a collective?

He had a brand new backpack that looked packed with books and was carrying a dorky looking "razr" scooter. Is Syrup a child?
