I may finally be receiving the punishment I deserve for my ongoing bitching about the Blue Angels' annual assault on Seattle.

I've been asked to play the part of liberal douchebag on KVI 570-AM's conservative cranky pants talk show The Commentators Thursday afternoon.

Unless I get bumped for somebody more douche-like, tune in around 4p to hear me serve as the progressive punching bag for angry windbags Ken Schram and John Carlson as we talk Blue Angels, Seafair and the American Way.

Any advice? Not sure who to root for tomorrow, are you?

Don't do it. Ken Schram is a jerk. Unless you just want the publicity, in which case I guess it makes sense.

Schram?
Isn't Schram a liberal? That's the whole point of the show, right? Carlson is a conservative, Schram a liberal. Or at least not as conservative as Carlson. I remember his Town Meeting days on KOMO tv... he had a much cooler head in those days.

Anyway, I say do it. Could be fun.

Blue Angels
Talk about how it's a waste of tax payer dollars. It closes roads and causes traffic congestion which has a negative impact on productivity. Additionally if everyone in Seattle is watching the Blue Angels they are not shopping, which is bad for business. If it's hunting season (I have no idea if it is or not) then talk about how the noise frightens away game and fish. Many Republicans take their hunting and fishing very seriously.

Basically just take your typical Republican complaints about everything else and apply them to the Blue Angels. If you mention the fuel consumption, the environment, etc they will just beat you down.

I don't think any of those arguments will work... patriotism and the military trump everything for republicans. Maybe say those planes could be blowing up hundreds of brown people in the middle east?

Live Ammo Seafair!
Tell them the blue angels are boring, declawed and their routine is tired. Tell them you want to see missiles flying into barges on Elliot Bay or no air show at all.

Why do a military demonstration if it isn't going to intimidate? What would Putin do?

Tell them you got the idea from the gun nuts at Seattlest.
