When neighborhood blogging, it’s easy to sound like a whining NIMBY. To add a little balance to things, here is a list of things I don’t mind having in the neighborhood one bit — even if the rest of the world doesn’t always appreciate them.
CHS IMBY List
- Boe the scarf dancer
- Broadway
- coyotes
- Critical Mass
- Dennis Saxman
- Dyke March
- graffiti, sustainable (i.e., not on your house, not etching people’s glass)
- hipsters
- Holiday Craft Store
- panhandlers, polite
- parking, crappy (i.e., good excuse to walk)
- power pole posters
- Tent City
Where is tent city?
It’s been at St. Joe’s on 19th Ave E for every summer we’ve been up here but not this year. Right now, it’s being, um, welcomed by Mercer Island.
St. Mark’s hosts as well.
I think there are two separate roving tent cities:
Tent City 3 is typically in Seattle and Tent City 4 on Eastside.
could be wrong.
in 2k5 it was hosted at SU: http://www.seattleu.edu/tentcity/
