El Tajin's X-Rated Drinks Menu

El Tajin's passing may be lamentable, because it offered inexpensive and tasty Mexican fare. And it's sad to see that light rail construction may have killed off an ailing business on Broadway.  However, one thing I probably won't miss is their X-rated drinks menu.  Does anyone know what was up with that?

Good question...
It didn't really make me want to order 'em out of curiosity. A little more subtlety would have been fine.

Not to mention...
The recipes for all their X-rated drinks sounded like one-way, fast-track tickets to a face-first meeting with the porcelain god. :P

Light Rail Construction
I'm very curious - how exactly did light rail construction kill off this business? Given that a) construction hasn't started yet, and b) el Tajin was about 5 blocks away, that seems like quite a feat!

RE: Light Rail Construction
There was an article in the Captiol Hill Times that quoted an El Tajin employee - attributing a decline in business to sound transit condemnations

I never ordered any...
I never ordered any of those drinks, but looking over the menu was always good for a laugh while waiting for my food.

huh?
The author of this post espouses a prude-normative way of living that's at odds with capitol hill history and culture. If you want to never see a dirty word, go live in Queen Anne or Kirkland some other "conservative values" neighborhood. In short: piss off, eh?

No Veggie Options
When ElTajin first opened I was excited because we need better Mexican options on the hill. Unfortunately I discovered that there were no vegetarian options on the extensive menu (which is especially strange for a mexican place or any restaurant on Broadway) and the place turned out to be a sports bar. If they had done a more thorough analysis of the demographics of the neighborhood they would have realized that their concept wasn't a good fit.

RE: No Veggie Options
Demographic analysis? They opened a restaurant. Not everybody has a product planner.
