Expanded Rudy's a disaster for magazine enjoyment

Rudy's Capitol Hill has undergone a makeover and the results are mostly positive:

• Bigger space
• More, um, stylists (ya, know, to style my hair)
• New waiting area with partitioned benches to prevent awkward wide-stance encroachment

My recent visit required a wait of approximately 23 seconds. Enough time to write my name on the waiting list, grab the copy of Interview off the rack and grab a seat. I opened the first ad-laden pages of my guilty pleasure reading and heard my name before I found the first "article."

There's the problem. One of my favorite things about going to Rudy's, I now know, was the wait. With the new expansion, the place is a well-oiled, haircutting machine. Not a good place to read, at all.
