Thank you, Shovelers!

A huge thank you to all the shovelers who were out working very hard today making the sidewalks safer: especially the guy at the SE corner of 18th Ave. E and E. John who shoveled the entire sidewalk on both streets - took him all day working with a regular shovel, and to Casey for shoveling the NW corner. Unsung and much appreciated heros!

Another addition
Our apartment manager has kept the sidewalks shoveled and salted since the snow started, from one end of the property to the other. Everyone appreciated not only the sidewalk outside our place, but areas all over the city.

shovels
We were out today shoveling on 18th and Howell. The storm drain was clogged with nasty debris and it started to flood. I think 18th has some of the worst standing water on the hill.

Agreed
My fiance, having a vision impairment, is trapped inside because of all the sidewalks covered in ice. It's hard enough for me to get around with good vision.

We should do better!
It seems as though most it hasn't occurred to 90% of Seattleites that we are responsible for the sidewalks in front of our businesses and residences. If every able bodied person cleared their patch, walking would have been a million times easier.

Aaaaah.
Pull it together we can all survive this little inconvenience....don't lose your minds and don't take it too seriously....it's ok, it will melt and life will go on.

Someone Should Do This For Money
I would seriously pay next time it snows to have someone shovel the front of our shop.

I bet you could post a flier on your storefront and get an offer next time within a day. :)

RE: Someone Should Do This For Money
Growing up in Chicago, as kids, we mowed lawns for pay in the summer and shoveled walks and driveways in the winter. The only thing I've heard kids doing for money in the snow is extorting stuck drivers in need of a push.

Thanks to shovelers
I heartily agree with the person thanking the shovelers! Too few people did it, and it was hard getting around on foot. I went into several businesses during the storm and thanked them, and I'll remember these small kindnesses when shopping.
Thanks again!
