Census 2009 directional results: Cap Hill forever?

Today we'll review the "directional" question set from the CHS Census 2009 -- you can see the first post about survey responses here and learn things like what percentage of your neighbors never, ever smoke.

The directional question set created some controversy over the choices presented -- respondents were forced to decide my choice of representative extremes. Some weren't happy having to choose an iPhone related answer to show their affinity with technology. Some skipped the question. Some are luddites.

Will I do the directional set again next time? Unsure. Fun in concept, I considered the question set a quick way to cover a lot of ground. In that respect, it was successful. But the amount of frustration some respondents voiced about the choices given leaves me looking for a better way. In the meantime, here are the results:

Let's get this out of the way. Sorry to every last one of you tired of hearing about the iPhone. To me, it is the ultimate symbol of our enmeshment with technology that enables communication. Maybe the label should have been "Marketing" instead of "Tech"

Nobody complained about Boom Noodle choice representing the hill's upscale (but still 'everyday') food options. And, turns out, more of you are happy hour people. Me, I graduated to brunch years ago.

You're much more likely to find me dancing in Volunteer Park, also. CHS does have a stronger-than-I-expected party crowd in its responding population.

No surprise we lean toward the laptop end of things. I can't remember the last time I hand wrote a note.

My favorite choice in the set. I made decisions through the years about both cities and never left Seattle. But I still wonder about both. Strange connection between the two, I guess. Where does NYC dream about?

Somebody said you can learn more about the writer (me) from these directional questions than you will from the answers. Maybe so. Still, glad to live in a place that seems to appreciate the cosmic disorder. As for the dog and cat thing, even I can't believe I bothered with that.

I also feel bad about the coyote thing. But I was curious to see what the split in sympathies was. Sorry you had to choose between the two. See the luck and god item above for details. Finally, the last item will give you some warm fuzzies. 61% of respondents plan to make the hill their home... forever. That's a pretty solid level of satisfaction. The rest of you, enjoy NYC and Portland, k?

By all means...
LOL I like the 'if you leave seattle: NY/portland' question. Two of the crappiest cities in America.

RE: By all means...
I read that one as "Are you a douchebag, or a hipster douchebag?"
