So the economy is taking it’s toll these days…not many applications for projects up here on the hill. But, nonetheless, the well hasn’t run completely dry. This week brings an application for 1111 E Union St. A group that’s quickly making themselves known up here, Runberg Architects (First Church of Christ Scientist, Broadway Farmer’s Market) has proposed a 6-story, 105 unit apartment complex with ground floor retail and 77 below grade parking spots.
Design review for “early design guidance” took place last March:

Speaking of design reviews, don’t forget the upcoming Design Review Meeting for the Bank of America/Broadway Farmer’s Market site on February 4th. Some confirmed rumors about this one means there will be lots to talk about at the meeting, so don’t miss it!
JoshMahar, thank you for keeping CHS up to speed with all the new projects/Design Reviews that have been coming up lately. Please, please, please keep up the good work. My dance card is full with community meetings as it is, so I usually don’t get a chance to go to DR’s on top of that, no matter how important the project is to the neighborhood.
At the last Cap Hill Community Council Meeting, several community members expressed that they would like to see the Council keep track of and report on DRs and construction projects that are of interest. Josh, wanna help us out?
I would love to but unfortunately I work until 8:00 on Wednesday evenings, which tends to be when the meetings take place. I will see what I can do about changing my schedule and get back to you on this but I’m happy to do anything else I can.
I guess we can say goodbye to the Undre Arms, the Color Store and the Buzz Stop. I hope the Buzz Stop gets a spot in the building but its highly unlikely they’d be able to afford it. Other than that, no big loss.
