The Volunteer Park Reservoir lacks in the water department UPDATED

But I don't, yet, know why. Checking with the city. In the meantime, let your imagination run wild.

UPDATE 1:33P -- From the anticlimax department, we get word that the reservoir is closed  not to be converted to a velodrome but for... drumroll...

Cleaning and maintenance! Lucky guess, mvb.

Spokesperson for Seattle utlities says VP reservoir is getting a scrubbing and will be empty for about three weeks. Apparently, this happens every year. So, where is all our drinking, bathing and toilet flushing water coming from in the meantime? Turns out, the reservoir is only used for city water during peak times (ie, summer). The rest of the year, the water just sits there, bored, posing for tourist photographs.

It's there, it's just very very very clear water
That's my theory. Or maybe they're cleaning, fixing cracks, etc. Sometimes the water just gets antsy and takes off to another reservoir for a few days. Don't make a big deal out of it, and it'll come back.

When are they going to cap the reservoir?
That would keep out the duck poop and give us more park space. I heard that all the open reservoirs were being converted but I don't know the schedule.
