Truck learns hard way that steep hills are steep

high centered on roy

It’s been maybe six months since I’ve seen a high centered truck on Roy, but every time I do, it makes me laugh.   You would think after the bus incident all commercial drivers would have gotten the advice “If you miss your exit, don’t just start taking random streets, call in”, but hey maybe not.

I didn’t get the real story here, but my guess is that this car carrier missed the Olive exit, took Lakeview and for some absolutely stupid reason, decided to head up Belmont.    I counted 5 cop cars.  I hope they bill the driver for their time.

Nice pic. I’ll have to ask east precinct and the city what they’re doing to keep this from happening again. Looks like a, um, drag.

Funny! In fairness to the driver that is an arterial and there is no warning sign I know of. I bet more people will use this route once the Olive Way exit closes.

You’re really going to blame the driver here? In most cities, they put signs on streets. Signs that warn drivers when a road is inappropriate for some type of traffic. I hope the driver sues the city for his time and the damage to his truck from not having appropriate signage. No one is clairvoyant — I can’t know ahead of time that street x in 3 blocks will have such a dramatic oscillation in slope that my vehicle will bottom out.

I noticed this, too, but was in my phone with only my lousy little phone camera.

SUE HAPPY BASTARD. If you are driving a truck like this it is your JOB TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS AND YOU DON’T GET TO SUE A CITY WHEN YOU DON’T. And by the way, if this driver does sue the city, who do you think pays for that?
