What you'll see at the May Cap Hill art walk

Here's the May Capitol Hill art walk roster of participating venues. If you've been following along, you will know that May marks the final 'old school' Cap Hill art walk before the big Blitz re-boot in June. We'll be posting an update on the new art walk tomorrow. Enjoy the walk!

Darin Shuler Ink drawings on paper
5-8pm
Saturated with swords, narwhals and toothy monsters, Shuler’s work is a tornado of bewitching, dreamworld imagery that treads a fairy tale line between gruesome and playful: a monster in gym socks commits seppuku with a medieval sword; a man morphs into a narwhal as though he were a werewolf on the full moon. Think Ren and Stimpy wreaking havoc on Seussville.
Shuler’s work has been exhibited at the SOIL Gallery and the COCA Gallery, among other Northwest venues; his art work and design have been featured on promotional posters for the bands Deerhoof, M. Bison and Seattle rockers The Apple War. He has been featured alongside fellow artists Kim E. Alexander, Jr. and Sean Alexander. A recipient of a 2007 Artist Trust GAP Award, he is also among the artists included in the 2008 Artist Trust EDGE Program.

Denise Lugo (Vitamin dee designs) and Peaches Listening Party
5-9pm
Photographer and graphic designer Denise Lugo (Vitamin dee designs) infuses her work with a deep curiosity of life’s mysterious extremes. Of Puerto Rican descent, Lugo was raised in the dichotomous worlds of Manhattan’s Loisaida and Stapleton, Staten Island. These environs and her experience of living in two very different worlds form the foundation of her vision. Pure sensuality-color, texture, movement- is a great source of excitement in Lugo’s work. Lugo is juried artist at the 2009 Seattle Erotic Arts Festival. During the Arts Walk Babeland will also be hosting a listening party for Peaches new album I Feel Cream. Enjoy the new album, watch some of her videos and enter to win tickets to her upcoming Seattle show or a copy of I Feel Cream.

Joan of Art - Painting
This is a process of layering color and pattern to achieve a kaleidoscope of "looking". The cannibalized predecessors are cut and pasted to give paint a gathering and jumping off area. The geometrics are created for individual pics. This causes a BIG picture along with The Microscape.

Victoria Heuman Art Jetscapes
5-8pm
Victoria Heuman has created a fresh and innovative form of modern canvas art called Jetscapes. Each Jetscape painting is an original piece composed of multi-level canvases suspended in an array as one complete and stunning work of art. With sleek, minimalistic lines, Jetscapes appear to float off the wall, leaving an awe-inspiring display of shadow, color, form, and architecture.

10% of all art sales will be donated to a local charity. Please come and help us support a worthy cause. If you can't make it to the Artwalk reception, don't despair! Victoria's Jetscapes will be on display and for sale at Whimsy through April 15th.
