Well, just off East Olive. I was on my way to get a haircut today when I came across a large deck being constructed on Belmont, just south of the Stumbling Monk.

It just so happens that the owner was there (pictured, seated with dog) and he told me the new joint will be a bar and grill called “Captain Black’s” and will specialize in “fried chicken, waffles, and po’ boys” as well as serving drinks. Not only will they have the amazing deck out front for summertime lounging, but a bigger, raised deck is also being constructed out back! Unfortunately, they wouldn’t let me get in to take a picture but it will be just above Glo’s and will hopefully have an amazing view. The new watering hole will be tentatively opening on June 1st. I was wondering what was going to go in there after the Healthy Hedon shut down. Yay another bar!
But will they serve grits? There’s the key.

All I need to say is 21 minutes wait for a 10$ po’boy…goto QFC and buy a sandwich then go drink here, then it will be worth it.
With that big back deck hopefully they’ll attempt to keep the noise down. There’s hundreds of apartments within one block of potentially rowdy revelers.
