4 area developments stuck in construction limbo

The 1111 E. Pike mixed-use project , we're told, is on track for its planned late July opening. With the economy continuing to sputter along, it and the two big housing developments being built on Broadway might be the last projects we see completed on Capitol Hill for a long time. Many projects simply won't be started. But others will remain stuck -- empty lots, holes in the ground. Earlier this month, Puget Sound Business Journal documented a city list of development projects around Seattle that were stalled by the harsh economic environment. Here are the Capitol Hill area projects in economic limbo:

A construction overhaul stuck in limbo

These are only the largest projects. Elsewhere on the Hill, there are homes and rehabs also stuck in mid construction and renovation like this cool old house on Aloha. We'd like to compile a list of limbo projects here on CHS. Leave a comment or send in a note about other construction efforts in your neighborhood that are stuck and we'll see what we can find out.

Empty Lots
That Federal Ave project has become sort of a "people's sandlot" where people play fetch with their dogs. And that Harvard lot seems destined to remain empty forever in spite of a prime location.

RE: Empty Lots
You'll note that the most famous empty lot of all isn't on the list the city provided to the PSBJ probably due to technical classification of the delay (I haven't checked). But the Pine/Belmont lot will certainly be on any CHS list I compile later. Another great place to play fetch in the middle of the city.

Twenty-five on the Park
What about Twenty-five on the Park? They're done on the outside but unfinished on the inside and set to be auctioned in August.

RE: Twenty-five on the Park
There are definitely others not listed in the PSBJ piece. Looks like I'll need to follow up with city about their filter for what made their list.

Hole in the ground
For an example of a hole in the ground that has lasted decades, look no further than the Polyclinic's triangular one at the intersection of Harvard and Broadway (just north of Madison.) How long has this gone on, with nothing more than an unsightly fence around it?

RE: Hole in the ground
I hear there's possible progress coming in this area. Need to get a few more details but Polyclinic might be able to put the area to use soon.

Not all bad
Since most of these projects are townhomes, perhaps the city will finalize the new townhome rules before these things restart and then they won't be as horrendous as they could have been. BTW, anyone know where the city is as with those townhome rules. Last I heard the Mayor had proposed some stuff to the council, did they vote and/or change them yet?
