Fire guts Broadway psychic shop

The streetside psychic that opened in a small open space just off the sidewalk next to Broadway Grill in June watched this early evening as her seats and curtains went up in flames. Destiny, the operator of the business, said she was having a quick dinner in the back of the shop when somebody yelled that her place was on fire. “It’s horrible,” she said, a charred pile that used to be her purse at her feet along with a stack of burned credit and ID cards. “Lately people have been walking by and flipping cigarette butts inside.”

Nobody was injured in the quickly burning and quickly extinguished blaze.

Thanks to neighbor Josh for alerting us to the situation.

Looks like the fire started just before 5:45 PM. No visible structural damage and all businesses in the area are open.

I’m sure it was from a flicked cigarette butt and not all the candles burning inside!

I’m surprised she didn’t see this coming.

regardless of whether or not it was a cigarette that started the fire, the mere fact that people have been flicking butts into her shop is disgusting. there are plenty of garbage cans on broadway!

p.s. guys, give her a break! what she offers is quaint, harmless fun, right? why everybody gotta give the ‘people readers’ a hard time?

I was with a friend at Julia’s.

The smoke came billowing out, people from Broadway were tossing water at it and then the fire department came and started tossing smoldering furniture onto the sidewalk. Good job.

Julia’s then played “Fire” by The Pointer Sisters.
