Down Hill: Gravel truck smashes into Madison Valley dry cleaner

The TV helicopter buzzing the backside of Capitol Hill this morning was getting shots of this -- a gravel truck barrelled down Madison, smashing into cars before crashing into the dry cleaners across the street from Essential Bakery:

Chad Cook, the driver of the truck, tells KIRO Radio that his brakes went out while heading down the steep grade on East Madison, "I had no brakes. I had the pedal to the floor, I was screaming at the top of my lungs inside the truck. I just braced myself as hard as I could with my arms, and I let god take care of the rest."

Fortunate that nobody was injured. As our tipster pointed out, the nearby Pizza Hut was spared. Central District News is also at the scene.

How exactly...
...does a gravel truck entirely lose its brakes?! I don't wanna live in a world where that can happen... can I get a refund?

PS: Y'all should go watch the 4-minute interview with the driver at CD news; he's quite a character.

no justice in this world
Local business gets smashed and pizza smut gets saved? I think that this proves that there is no such thing as karma.

RE: no justice in this world
Quite a toss up between a corporation and a "local" business based on toxic chemicals. I suppose whatever fits in your world.

Let's be thankful nobody was killed.
