An emergency crew responded to East Pike near 14th Ave tonight to treat a bicyclist injured in a collision with a car. According tot he 911 logs, two emergency units responded to the accident at 11:12 PM. The injuries to the bicyclist are unknown at this time.
According to the Central District News, scanner chatter indicated that the rider was not wearing a helmet. “The bicycle did not have any lights and no helmet was worn.”
UPDATE 8:47 AM:
Seattle Fired Department spokesperson Dana Vander Houwen said the bike rider was a male in his 20s. He was transported to Harborview with serious injuries. We also have a call out to SPD to find out if there is any criminal investigation underway.
UPDATE 9:45 AM:
A Seattle Police Department spokesperson said there will likely not be a criminal investigation of this incident but could offer few details on what happened. We’ll keep an eye out for the incident report which should come through the SPD system this weekend.
