Century Ballroom holds dance competition for fellow dance center, space improvements

Velocity left the Odd Fellows building for a more affordable space on 12th Ave and Century Ballroom replaced the dance studio in the refurbished building. Now Century is lending Velocity a helping hand.

Century is holding a dance-off competition to the tune of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” hit song to raise money for Velocity’s new space on 12th, as well as Century’s newly acquired West Hall next to The Tin Table.

According to Century, they have had three or four sessions teaching the jazz routine to the song, and its popularity sparked the idea for a fundraising contest. All you have to do is videotape yourself, or any size group dancing to the song and send it to Century via email or YouTube and they will decide on 6 to 8 groups to compete for the $300 grand prize on September 19th.

Century’s website says the tapes are due by the 24th, so get dancing.

We couldn’t find any entries already uploaded to YouTube but we did find this which you probably need to see:

  1. I love that song, it is stuck in my head half the time. I love the video, too. And it looks like practising for it would be a huge awesome workout.

I am no choreographer, but if anyone wants to get a group together, plz include Uncle Vinny! :-D
