5th annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival at Elysian this weekend

This all sounds excellent -- right up to the fermenting and gourd part.

For the fifth year in a row, Seattle's Elysian Brewery will be hosting its annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival this weekend (October 10-11). The event will take place at the Capitol Hill Elysian Brewery (across the street from Chop Suey) and will showcase the latest, greatest pumpkin-flavored concoctions from Elysian, as well as 16 guest pumpkin beers from several Seattle-area and non-Seattle-area brewers.
But don't forget about The Great Pumpkin! For those unfamiliar to the festival, Elysian also a has a huge gourd filled with pumpkin ale which has been sealed up with wax and allowed to undergo a second fermentation. At 4:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday, a tap is hammered into "The Great Pumpkin" and the beer inside is served to the hoards of thirsty pumpkin enthusiasts.

Tokens per beer?
Anyone know how many tokens a beer will cost?

.... $15.00 to get in and...
pay and then stuck to drink the home made beer? Really, oh really.

And it is a fest? Really, oh really. If it were a fundraiser for the Approve 71 campaign, I would go. Drink one beer and give the tokens to beer lovers, oh well.

Their fish and chips are good, by the way.

Sweet Jesus - not everything can be a fundraiser. The entire frackin' country can't shut down for R-71.

.... a mere four weeks ...
Hey, enjoy the beer. For a mere three/four weeks, Approve Ref: 71 is really important to me and thousands of other Seattle LGBT folks.

Why doesn't the Elysian give a few bucks from the fest to such a great political effort?

Oh, 'franckin shit", what a great idea. Tons of queers eat and drink there....

Zan O - engage brain a bit more. You are not in Centralia any more. Capitol Hill, remember?

RE: .... a mere four weeks ...
Man, I have no problem if the Elysian wants to gay-up their beer festival. But, to suggest the wheels of industry them self must grind to a halt for the next month and the entire GDP must be redirected into a political campaign or boycotts will ensue is, frankly, bizarro and off-kilter. Never before in the history of this country - or any other (with the exception of the Central African Republic in 1976) - is there a record of an economic system being temporarily modified to achieve a social aim. And there's no evidence it's happening here except with the one-man-Mike-parade-of-boycotts.

If buying beer from a giant, corporate brewery and boycotting a local, craft-based business because they won't turn-over their money (wot, ru holding hostages?) makes you feel good then by all means do it. I, however, will buy both my own beer, as well as Mike's share*, to support Elysian over the InBev International Brewing Conglomerate.

* frankly that's only like a half-glass of the lightest IPA Elysian makes, mixed with a half-glass of water

if anyone is concerned about equality ...
... they will refuse to speak to Mike for the next 4 weeks unless he turns-over 100% of his income and the entire contents of his bank accounts, plus liquidates all real estate and trust assets, to the Yes on 71 campaign. If it's anything less than 100% - 80%, 90% - then Mike is obviously an externally-conflicted homophobe and must be silenced! Silenced, I say! Boycott Mike! Yes on 71! Long live the Bhagwan Sri Rajneesh!

How about a bit of chill?

I won't try to combine beer and ongoing politics ... too touchy I guess.

I like their fish and chips, eat there often, by the way.

"I like their fish and chips, eat there often, by the way."

I demand you stop eating often for the next 4 weeks and donate all of the money you'd otherwise spend on food to R-71, just as you'd like the fine owners of Elysian to donate all the money they earn to support themselves and their families to R-71.

Until you do that we have nothing more to say to each other you intolerant, stone-throwing, judgmental freak.
