Blotter: Woman scuffles with LaRouche table workers over Obama as Hitler poster

CHS does not condone this woman’s actions. But we’re also kind of tired of the Hitler thing.

All else aside – these people are rabid homophobes …. they used to get shouted off Broadway a few years back. Their cult leader went to prison for credit card fraud involving the elderly….

Not nice people. They are a variation of the Fred Phelps family in a way. Ever wondered just how whacked out can people get, here you go, text book stuff … and always an old white guy in the background taking all the money…. screwing the young people and playing big time, big mouth leader.

Shit. I feel dirtied even posting about them.

Of course everyone with an opposing view is whacked out in some way. I find those that want acceptance to be some of the most unaccepting people.

I don’t share their views but I think they are more than entitled to express it…

Well of course – free country as they said in grade school – that is obvious.

And there is a perfect right to SHOUT get out of my neighborhood and your ideas are odious and mean and hateful.

Yep, one can SHOUT that. Free country.

Course, sniffing and sniffling about racist and homophobic and criminal dogs and their civil rights – well – as they say – that don’t take no balls.

I read an article a while back about all the young people who get sucked into the LaRouche void… most of them are fairly bright, but easily led, and they somehow get browbeat into believing the 24/7 stream-of-consciousness craziness that pours out of ol’ Lyndon. Seems like if we could just get people to do a little skeptical reading about Scientology, LaRouche and the Mormons in the first few weeks they were joining, the worlds would become a far more rational place.

Sigh.

So, this Larouche cult has as much right to free speech as the Obama cult does. Too bad those in the Obama cult feel like they have the moral obligation to silence those who are opposed to them.

Sounds like history is repeating itself. A few years ago, it would have been the Bush cult trying to silence another cult out of moral obligation.

LaRouche and his followers don’t have a clue what they stand for. Basically, they’re against every establishment or administration of the time. LaRouche is nothing but a paranoid conspiracy theorist. Worse, he’s a flagrantly anti-semitic one.

Still, no matter how loyally and blindly his dumb, young followers support him, they have a right to spread their filth rooted in the 1st amendment. That said, the rest of us have a right to challenge them.

Comparing Obama to Hitler? It makes no sense, and it’s terribly insulting to Jews throughout the world. Barney Frank was right to respond to a LaRouchie who asked him what he thought of Obama’s supposedly “fascist” policies by asking “On what planet do you spend most of your time . . . trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table.”

I don’t necessarily support what the woman did if she were unprovoked (although I admit I’d love to walk up and take a long, steaming piss all over a table full of Larouche propaganda), but I do understand the frustration. Try and talk to one of the Larouchies for a while and disagree with them – see how angry, violent, and self-righteous they’ll get.

Huh?

Folks have been challenging La Rouche and his off the wall garbage for 20 years or so… before he went to prison for bilking the elderly.

Obama is a new political player … and won an election by large margins from tens of millions of people in 50 states.

Obama Cult? Don’t think so. And as an American I am insulted to degrade an image of our president in such fashion. It is the President of the United Sates and his picture in play here. It is not the sort of political discourse that I can appreciate – even in the wildest of political debates. Then, even progressives can love their country and its institutions. And we can all do our politics with some respect … and less racism.

Viva President Obama.

Obama is about as far from Hitler as anyone could get. The comparison is deliberately odious and provocative. But then, so was burning the flag (or sitting on a flag patch) for some people.

Since it’s refreshing to see people who care enough about something to invite trouble by standing someplace they deliberately picked in hopes of inviting conflict, I’d limit myself to making the ward-off-vampires sign and let it go at that.

You don’t agree with someone so they should go away? That’s not what you learned in grade school. Although this isn’t the first time you suggested getting rid of someone. Silencing the minority is not exactly something I would think you would want to advocate.

If you can’t live among people who have views that are different than your own, maybe you have the issue or you missed the class that went over what living in a free country really means.

I don’t think cults have limits on the number of members but that is beside the point. It does seem like you feel you have moral obligation to silence views that are different from your own.

Of course you were probably never insulted when degrading the image of our previous president.

I just don’t understand the comparison. I’m not as knowledgeable as I should be on the presidents health care plan but I’m fairly sure it doesn’t include the systematic murder of some six million people based on their religious beliefs.

I’m all for free speech but attempting to say that the president has something in common with Hitler is just patently offensive. As we move on in time I realize there are not too many Holocaust victims with us any longer but I wonder if the people with those flyers and posters would waive them so rabidly if faced with a group of folks who actually lived through that dark time in our past.

Not saying I agree with the guy, but he does have his “reasons” for making the connection: http://www.larouchepub.com/other/2009/3620obama_revive_hitle

Mike with Curls AND Uncle Vinny are right on: LaDouchies take kids and brainwash them with idiocy. No amount of talking to them will change their warped worldview. like Scientologists and Mormons.

A flashmob should be organized to surround them and make them GO AWAY.

Don’t be a dummy and actually READ the article. LaRouchites thrive when people take them at their word and don’t independently research. I’m sure you don’t actually agree with them, but it does excuse away the intellectually incurious.

Ah, that gem, ye olde appeal to emotional fallacy. ’bout as useful as human coprophagia. Wouldn’t want reasoned thought to get in the way of …well, democracy.

This isn’t racist in regards to black presidents, nor are the “Victims” necessarily anti-president or anti-american – well, not generically anti-american anyway: at its base, this choice by the LaRouche fans is anti-Jew. They set up in the closest thing to a jewish neighborhood that Seattle has (temple De Hirsh: sorry first hill, it’s on cap hill), not much more than 50 feet from the only place on broadway to get a schmear or lox (Noah’s), on Thomas street (good hebrew name: they could’ve set up on republican, but nooo…), and -with their imaging/branding/marketing using hitler ‘staches – are painfully ignorant of Godwin’s Rule?

These political-issue hucksters are undisguised jew-haters, plain and simple.

My real point: You can exercise free speech, free press, AND be anti-obama, anti-democrat or anti-2party system, anti-health care reform, anti-socialist, and even pro-libertarian – – WITHOUT comparing ANYTHING or anyone to the holocaust or the damned man who pushed its control buttons.

You lose the argument at that point. You’ve so abandoned mature reason, that you might as well yell “BASE” or “INVUNNERABLE SHIELDS” and stick out your tongue while coming to a stop in the woodchips. And these folks, young or not, brainwashed or not, aren’t kinney-garters… they’re grown ups.
Logic dictates therefore, they are antisemitisch. NO wonder she (criminal?) layed into them like that.

Of course , maybe she was just fed up with all the clipboard toters, and yelled ‘Hakn a tshaynik’! before going after them.
Sorry, larouche fans: Free speech or not, there’s no reason to drag millions of poor murdered jewish grandmas into the argument about today’s greedy insurance and pharm industries paying off politicians. Besides, putting a hitler ‘stache on your enemy, ultimately puts the hitler stache on yourself: or, perhaps you prefer it in your kinneygarter speech; ‘whoever smelt it , dealt it’.

“I wonder if the people with those flyers and posters would waive them so rabidly if faced with a group of folks who actually lived through that dark time in our past.”

Sadly, they probably would. As others have said, they’re so wrapped up in their own warped world-view that they can’t see anything else. And I think someone mentioned they’re anti-semitic as well, and certainly homophobic, so I wonder if that means they approve of Hitler (and thus Obama). Oh, the irony!

As for the incident itself, I think it would have been fine if the woman hadn’t grabbed the one taking the cell phone picture. If the table folks can take advantage of free speech to spread their propaganda, the rest of us can use free speech to counter back. And I’m pretty sure there isn’t a law against knocking pamphlets off a table (unless littering counts), but once the woman grabbed the other’s wrists–that’s assault.

Obama won with about 30% of the eligible vote. Stop acting like this is a true mandate.
