Chamber looking for Web developer to build YourCapitolHill.com

With the negative reaction to the Chamber’s new Capitol Hill logo and some taking it upon themselves to offer up alternatives, CHS asked Chamber of Commerce president Jack Hilovsky if it was possible his organization would rethink the marketing campaign. Hilovsky one-upped us.

The Chamber isn’t reopening the branding effort but it is opening up a process to find somebody to build the Chamber’s new ‘yourcapitolhill.com’ Web site, Hilovsky told us.

If you or somebody you know is in the Web design and construction biz, here’s a brief description of the project:

Statement of need: Creation of a new website, YourCapitolHill.com

The Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce is seeking a web design/development team to create and deploy: YourCapitolHill.com. The site is a merchant based site that has two goals: Promote Capitol Hill as a great place to dine, shop and visit, and promote the existing sense of community culture and pride.

For more details and information about the Chamber’s ‘request for proposal’ process, send information about your experience and past projects to [email protected]

CHS won’t be bidding but we do have high hopes that somebody skilled gets involved. While YourCapitolHill.com could be seen as competition for CHS, in reality, it’s only going to make the Hill’s Web stronger if a quality site gets built. If a quality Hill business builds that quality Hill site, all the better.

…with any luck the good ole boys that hate teh gays won’t figure out that the logo wasn’t the ONLY way to fuck over our neighborhood again.

Ahem. Pardon the venom. I meant to say:

PLEASE use a local person. Someone with a vested interest in the neighborhood’s success. Business owner or landowner or longtime renter or zoning activist, please.

No, I’m quite serious. You guys use a goddamned red-state district agency to do your most sensitive work again, and all my dollars go buh-bye.
