Seattle Police detectives have determined that the woman who claimed she was raped in a parking garage near Seattle University and Swedish Medical Center made the story up, the department announced today. The report on the SPD blotter says that detectives believe the woman suffers from ‘medical issues.’ The woman reported she was attacked and raped by an unknown assailant early on the morning of December 11th in a parking garage at 600 Broadway.

An SPD spokesperson said that there is the potential for a charge of false claims in situations like this. The determination on whether to file charges falls to the prosecutor’s office.
