Police collar Broadway street robber

Here are the details from the SPD Blotter. This is the seventh street robbery attempt we are aware of this month. More on that trend soon.

On March 31st, at approximately 3:15 AM, East Precinct officers responded to a 911 call of a strong arm robbery outside a grocery store in the 300 Block of Broadway Avenue East.  The victim, a 25 year old male, reported that as he was getting out of his car the suspect walked up to him and demanded his keys.  The suspect then struck the victim in the face three times.  The victim ran from the suspect.  Witnesses reported seeing the suspect take off running.  A description of the suspect was broadcast for officers in the area over the radio.

Third watch officers recalled having an earlier encounter with the suspect and gave a clothing description.  Officers conducted an area search and located the suspect.  He was positively identified by witnesses.  The suspect, a 26 year old man, was arrested and later booked into the King County Jail on Investigation of Robbery.

The arrest follows a string of unsolved street crime in recent weeks on the Hill:

Since the Broadway Grocery closed, there has been no grocery store on the 300 block. Perhaps they meant the 400 block, where the QFC is?
