State patrol apprehends suspected car thieves with help from A LOT of cop cars

We received several tips about a lot of police activity tonight around 5:30 PM. Here's one from neighbor Rob:

A dozen cop cars just went roaring up 10th Avenue East, northbound from Aloha.  Never heard this many at once.

According to police radio dispatches, the contingent was responding to a call for assistance from a Washington State Trooper making a stop on a stolen vehicle on E. Roanoke near the off-ramp from I-5. Our partners at Central District News report that the trooper had one person in custody but another was on the run -- wearing handcuffs. According to the radio transmissions, the trooper believed the suspect was able to 'slip' the cuffs off one hand. The suspect was described as a black male, 5'8", with a hooded jacket with logos on the pockets and was last seen fleeing eastbound. One witness said the suspect was seen jumping down an embankment from Roanoke. After a near hour-long search around Roanoke, Delmar Drive and Boyer, a trooper apprehended the second suspect at Hamlin and 10th Ave.
