Cops use taser on man with duct taped spear

Police and emergency units responded tonight when a man who had been carrying a spear was tased by an officer trying to remove him from the area of a convenience store. The first reports of the man causing a disturbance came in around 7:00 PM when the man was seen near Belmont and Olive carrying a spear with some kind of blades “duct taped” on both ends, according to police radio transmissions. The man was described as a black male, around 6′ 2″, 230 pounds, wearing “scruffy” clothing. He also caused a commotion near City Market before the incident around 7:45 PM at J’s Quick Stop. One officer described the man as spinning his weapon like “that character from Star Wars.” Presumably, the officer meant Darth Maul. At 7:53 PM an ambulance was dispatched to the scene to treat minor injuries to an officer and to check out the suspect who was hit with taser darts.

Thanks for the tip @quazie.

I’m not sure I’ve ever read a better quote on CHS: “Presumably, the officer meant Darth Maul.” Only on Capitol Hill, I tell you!
