Teen charged in Honey the pit bull puppy caper

The teenager arrested in the almost-too-crazy-to-believe story of a lost pit bull puppy, her heart broken owners, $1,500 in reward money and a convoluted, and twisting journey from E. Union to south Seattle has been charged with first-degree robbery, the Seattle Times reports:

Ceandrik Davis, 17, was charged as an adult with first-degree robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. Senior Deputy Prosecutor Dana Cashman wrote in charging documents that Davis has a lengthy criminal history for multiple assaults, vehicle theft, harassment and theft charges.

Davis is accused of contacting the puppy’s owners on April 14 while they were posting fliers in their Capitol Hill neighborhood, according to charging papers. Davis told the owner that he bought the animal from an unidentified man the night before and would return the dog after he was given the cash reward.

Davis will be tried as an adult due to his extensive criminal record.

For those of you who have been asking how the victim in the crime could have been so willing to put himself into such a seemingly dangerous situation, this passage from the prosecutor’s documents highlighted by the Times report gives you some sense of the victim’s state of mind:

“The police told the victim they were concerned that the defendant was lying to him about the dog and he was in danger,” Cashman wrote in charging papers. “The victim could only think of getting his beloved dog back and trusted the defendant who then robbed him.”

We’ll grab the charging docs and see if there’s any more to add.

To date, CHS has only been contacted with one tip about the missing Honey — a man told us he had seen a puppy matching the blue nose pit bull’s description with a group of teens near Pine and Boylston. Honey’s owners told us earlier this week that they are continuing to put up reward posters for the dog across Capitol Hill and the Central District.

This story show how F***** the thugs in Seattle have gotten. When are they going to learn it’s easier to get a job than trying to scam people and then sitting in jail when they get caught. Geeze, the dude just wants his dog back. You can’t even put up a reward in this town without all the scumbags coming out of the woodwork trying to steal it from you.

Keep looking, don’t give up on people either. Your dog is with someone and that means there is still hope.
Sorry for those that seems so heartless, keep good faith because good prevails over evil.
Best of luck my prayers are with your pup and family.

Which is why, again, you should never put up a “cash reward” anywhere.

I sincerely hope these criminally stupid people never get that dog back and are so broken up about it that they can never bear to have another pet.
