Food & Drink Notes: Capitol Hill restaurant spawns L.A. offshoot edition

  • When Plum first opened, we learned that Casey Affleck, Tobey Maguire and a gaggle of other celebrities had been spotted dining there.  That celebrity interest has actualized into the financing of an L.A. Plum.  Makini Howell recently prepared dinner for Casey Affleck, Joaquin Phoenix, Liv Tyler, Jenna McCarthy, Daryl Hannah, Gus Van Sant, Matthew Cera at the home of Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner in preparation for the launch of the restaurant.
  • Sadly, we have confirmed that the mystery restaurant at 401 15th Avenue East (former home of Tilden) will not be Txori.  Our source at Txori had this to say: “”taking a break…. Might come up in Cap hill sometime next year…. Haven’t started looking for a place yet…”

  • Seattle Restaurant Week continues through 4/29 (this Thursday): take advantage of the deals at these Capitol Hill restaurants
  • To satisfy your charitable impulses and score a deal by dining out at these Capitol Hill eateries that are participating in both Restaurant Week & Dine Out For Life: Poppy, Quinn’s and Tidbit Bistro on 4/29
  • Did you know Alejandro Meza co-owns Meza with his model girlfriend, Tara Lynn – and that Tara is the first “plus-size” model to grace the cover of French Elle?
  • Spinasse joins Coastal Kitchen, 22 Doors, Meza, Anchovies & Olives, Rosebud, Oddfellows, Poco Wine Room, Poppy, Tidbit Bistro and Linda’s – in the list of eateries offering outdoor seating on Capitol Hill

This is great news. I’ve been fond of the Quickie’s line of restaurants since I went to the U-District place 10 or 11 years ago… so glad to see them get recognition!

Anyone know why the work has stop at the gin distillery on Pike Street?
