Roanoke Tavern makes offer to buy building, stay on 10th Ave E

When we broke the news that the Roanoke was losing its lease  and would have to be out of its space at 2409 10th Ave E by the end of July as the building was being sold to new owners, there were lots of ideas from the community about a potential home for the much-loved watering hole. Including staying put.

This morning via Facebook, the north Capitol Hill bar's owners announced they're trying to do just that.

We're looking into what the 1921 brick structure will cost the bar. Appraised value of the land according to King County Records is $385,000. We talked to a real estate investor who recently purchased the two buildings to the south of the Roanoke for around $1.3 million -- he told us he wasn't interested in buying the Roanoke's lot because he couldn't afford the 1,800 square foot building. We'll check in to find out what comes next in this neighborhood bar drama.

Fantastic!
I hope to hell this works. Losing the Roanoke would be terrible. If there's anything I can do to help please let me know. Thanks
