Thanks

We’ve learned tonight that CHS has been selected by the Society of Professional Journalists as the best hyperlocal news site in the Pacific Northwest in this year’s Region 10 awards covering Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. We’re honored and humbled by the award.

http://sewardcitynews.com/ was robbed!

Thanks everybody for your support of the site and for being part of this. It’s a proud night for us and — not to make too big a deal out of it — an amazing recognition of change. Note the “Professional” part in the Society of Professional Journalists. We aim to bring you the highest quality community news experience possible. But the community that makes this happen is a mix of the professional and the passionate. As we say here, anybody can contribute to CHS — and you do. This award is for you. Thanks.

You can see a list of online winners below and the entire roster of honorees in the attached PDF. Our official category is Best Site – Specialized Geography.

I feel just a little glow as I bathe in your reflected glory!

But seriously, the open friendly interactive nature of CHS is what makes it the success it is, and is also what (I suspect) minimizes the flaming and nastiness that spoils other news sites.

Keep up the great work.

Andrew

The award is well deserved. You, Justin, and cohorts put a lot of effort into content on this site.

Funny, though, food stories and crime have the most readers …

This site keeps me updated on all the Hill happenings. You put a lot of hard work into gathering the info and it shows. I visit daily and often point my friends in this direction for the local news perspective.
Lifting a Guinness in your honor! Cheers!

Justin is right: This is indicative of some sort of seachange in local news coverage.

Congratulations! You deserve this. I aspire for Eastlake Ave. to someday be as good at CHS and CDNews.

Congratulations and thanks for our conciliatory nod. Hyper local news is not always exciting or glamorous but it is important to folks. In many ways it can be more important then national news, certainly more relevant.

I don’t even live on Capitol Hill, but I am a regular reader nonetheless. It’s nice to be recognized, and you certainly do put a lot of thought and work into this blog. Keep it up!
