Capitol Hill Community Garage Sale

After last night’s pounding rain storm, Capitol Hill was lucky to be graced with a clear, beautiful sunny day for its third annual Community Garage Sale Day (CGSD).  The main headquarters were in the People’s Parking Lot at Belmont and Pine, with about 40 other mini garage sales happening throughout the Hill.  At the headquarters, the abandoned parking lot surface was spread out with folks displaying their stuff for sale, and a good amount of people browsing and making deals.  In terms of items for sale, the usual suspects prevailed.  There were lots of shoes, clothes, jewelry, furniture, and entertainment and household goods.  CHS main man Justin Carder was also on hand to hand out free CHS crow buttons and Garage Sale Day maps.

According to the maps, about 40 other garage sales were going on throughout the Hill, spanning from E. Mercer to E. Columbia Street, and beyond.  After perusing through the People’s Parking Lot, yours truly took her awful sense of direction for a spin in attempt to find the “Sexy Nerds We Dream Sale,” “The Great Decluttering,” and “Bigger Than a Shoebox,” among the other creatively named sales.  Just to clarify, these were more like yard/sidewalk sales rather than garage sales, as no one in Capitol Hill really has a garage to sell stuff out of.  I have no idea which garage sales I stumbled upon, but just strolling through eastern Capitol Hill, there were lots tables set up with stuff for sale, and groups of people wandering about with maps in hand.  Hopefully you were one of them!
