The Dead Weather, Blue Scholars to rock new third day of Capitol Hill Block Party

These are the fruits of the labor by organizers to lobby the City of Seattle for a permit allowing a third day of the Capitol Hill Block Party. CHS reported on organizer Dave Meinert’s last-minute scramble to gain permission for a third day. At the time, Meinert said a major headliner’s appearance at the music festival hinged on the decision. Turns out, that band was, as many postulated, the Dead Weather. More on the full lineup, including the roster for the new Sunday addition to the fest, in the announcement from CHBP below. Meinert previously told CHS that the Sunday addition will be a quieter, shorter day for the Block Party. “We’ll be shutting down the Vera stage at 8:30 and the main stage at 9 PM,” Meinert said. “So the noise definitely won’t go so late.”

July 23-25th

Seattle, WA

The 2010 Capitol Hill Block Party takes over Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood this time for THREE FULL DAYS, July 23-25. Capitol Hill Block Party is an annual music festival that showcases the best indie and underground music in the US, with a special focus on its Northwest artists.  Set in an urban environment and launched 13 years ago, the Block Party has evolved into one of Seattle’s most anticipated outdoor music festivals. With over 60 bands on 3 stages, great food, and plenty of cheap beer, this is the best party of the summer.

“The festival’s grown every year for more than a decade because it’s fun. Show up with friends or alone, and whether or not you pay attention to what’s on stage, if you’re friendly, you’ll meet people. If you drink, you’ll not drink alone (but you will drink in a beer garden). If you holler, expect a holler back. Feel like being social? The Block Party is your best friend.
