Victim in Sunday Capitol Hill robbery says was held up by two ’10 or 11 year-olds’ — with a gun

The victim of an early Sunday morning armed robbery near 13th and Denny said that the assailants in the street crime were children. According to East Precinct radio traffic, an officer was waved down near Pike and Broadway around 3:20 AM by the victim who told police about the robbery that had happened about 15 minutes before. The victim said the street robbers were two black males approximately 10 or 11 years old — and that they had a gun. According to the radio reports, police searched the area for the young street robbers who made their getaway in a vehicle described as a dark blue sedan. It was not clear from the radio transmissions if somebody else was driving the getaway car or if the kids were also advanced for their ages in other categories. No details on what was stolen or additional description of the suspects. We’ll follow up with SPD on this one Monday morning.

UPDATE 7/26/2010 9:25 AM:
SPD confirms details of this report and clarified a few details. The victim in the incident told officers she was robbed by two young black males, one approximately 13 to 14 years old, the other she believed to be 10 or 11.

The victim told officers she was approached by the two as she walked near 13th and Denny. One of the kids pointed a black pistol with a white stripe at her and demanded her purse. The woman told police that at first she did not take the threat seriously because of how young the two street robbers appeared but then the one with the gun appeared to chamber a round. At that point, the victim said, she handed over the purse to the boys who ran away and got into the car described above.

SPD tells us that they were unable to find the suspects.

Oh yeah, because I am sure these boys come from a stable caring home where they have *never* witnessed or experienced any physical violence. So surely a whooping would do the trick.

Once again, I beseech CHS for the ability to downvote.

Actually, a quick whipping is not enough. They need to spend a significant amount of time in “juvie.” And their “parents” (if they have any) need to be held accountable for them being out in the middle of the night, with a car and a gun.
