With yoga fundraiser as backdrop, police swarm Cal Anderson to aid park ranger

It was not a very zen moment. A contingent of Seattle Police Department officers descended on Cal Anderson Park Saturday afternoon during the 15th annual Sun Saluthon yoga fundraiser after a report that a park ranger needed back-up. Here’s a picture and the note we received from neighbor Joe about the 2 PM incident:

big police response in park just now. park ranger tried to wake up completely passed out man with barking dog. when man finally woke up he rushed the ranger who backed away. man kept threatening. park ranger called for help and all those officers came and took the man and the dog away. an intereating backdrop to the yoga going on behind me here!

According to police radio transmissions, the man — and the dog — were taken into custody.

  1. The worst thing about spangers are their ill-kept, poorly trained, oft-stolen dogs.
