Food and drink construction update: Inside the Olive Way overhaul, Panera push?

Starbucks corporate PR passed along this shot of the stacked floor tiles inside of the gutted Olive Way Starbucks taken by Capitol Hill shutter bug Scooter Lowrimore. As we’ve reported, the company is spending more than $500,000 overhauling Olive Way into its new store concept. The new design is expected to be completed in late September.

Meanwhile, up on Broadway, we swung by the soon-to-be home of Panera Bread and saw that the signs still say opening in August even though the retail space in the Broadway Building the chain is going to call home is nowhere close to ready. Can they really build one of those things in two weeks?

Starbucks I didn’t think would be done by the end of September, but they are chugging along.

Panera Bread will not open by the end of August. No way, no how.

They just added a Panera in Factoria in a similar sized space and it took them over a month.. When Wilcox Const gets behind things and is given the OK w/ all permits, they can knock a place out pretty quick. However, they have no posted permits at this time so I’m guessing this will be opening in Sept at the soonest.
