‘Emergency’ sewer repair shuts down E. Howell

We have calls out to learn more but we’re not really sure we want to hear about it. All we know is this. The 1400 block of E. Howell is closed Tuesday for “emergency sewer repair.” All day. Emergency. If we find out more, you’ll have to hear about it too.

Thanks to CDNews Scanner for the tip.

  1. My husband and I live about 2 blocks from there, and we were both woken up around 3:30 am by some strange noises that sounded like they were nearby. I was sleepy,, but i remember there were two different sounds that repeated one after another, a few times. One was kind of screechy and I remember thinking it sounded somehow like fireworks, but in reverse (I was reeeally sleepy). I feel like it may have been related, and now I’m super curious. Does anyone know of anything that would make loud screeching noises and subsequently warrant emergency sewer repair??

  2. We live right near the corner of 14th & Howell and saw that the city had put up detour signs etc. but have not been notified of any work. I must be a sound sleeper as I didn’t hear any mystery noises. What the heck are they up to? All of my plumbing seems to be working (in the house, silly!). Will keep a vigilant eye out and report back. Keep calm and carry on.
