Gasukan ‘costume role play’ characters gather in Cal Anderson

Neighborhood shutter bug (and sometimes development watch dog) Dennis Saxman provided these pictures from the monthly meet-up of Gasukan, a Seattle area ‘cosplay’ — costume role play — group dedicated to gathering to create artful real world experiences featuring favorite anime and manga characters. In other words, just another Sunday in Cal Anderson Park.

With the Penny Arcade Expo again this Labor Day weekend, expect to see more of these characters roaming the Hill. If only Tokyo Sweets were already open.

It kind of went along with the temporary sculpture installation at the park. I’m glad I was able to witness this.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks to Mr. Saxman for being so nice and asking us what we were about. It makes my Gasukan-Day when people come up to ask about us and are receptive to it. I’m glad we could add some excitement to your Sunday!
