Our crime coverage created as many questions as answers this weekend. Here comes the clean-up crew:

• Sunday morning, we reported on an overnight helicopter mystery involving a chopper, a spotlight, and pissed off and worried residents from Belltown to Capitol Hill to First Hill. We told our buddies at SeattleCrime.com about it, they made a call or two and here’s what they found. That chopper was King County Sheriff’s Guardian One, called in to assist in the break-up of a 20-person brawl in the 800-block of Columbia Street. It’s not clear exactly what necessitated the tour of central and downtown Seattle though we did hear reports of some smaller fights in other parts of the city around this time but at least we can now say who and some of the why behind the flyover.
• Friday night we received several reports of an incident involving police and medical personnel on 11th Ave near Cal Anderson Park. When there’s a large crowd of people waiting for a movie in the park to begin and a police incident breaks out, you’re going to get some tips. The initial details of the incident involved a man claiming to have been beaten and robbed by another man in the park. SPD confirms that one man was beaten by another in the incident but said that all three people contacted were highly intoxicated and that the story got a little crazy. Apparently, one man in the group accused another of being an undercover police officer and then proceeded to beat him up. According to SPD spokesperson Mark Jamieson, one man required a trip to the hospital with minor injuries in the attack. Jamieson also confirmed that none of the three men were undercover cops.
• Finally, we got a note about police activity Sunday afternoon on Broadway. We have learned that in that incident, three females entered the Broadway Urban Outfitters, shoplifted some merchandise and, at some point in the criminal activity, assaulted an employee. One of the group was taken into custody a short time after the assault.
