Grim to replace Grey on 11th Ave

Meet Grim. A new project from the team of bar and restaurant entrepreneur Laura Olson and architect and designer Chris Pardo, the lounge and restaurant will soon take over the empty space on 11th Ave that Grey Gallery formerly called home. And, from the looks of things, it’s going to make a rather appropriate neighbor for the the next-door Crypt sex, leather and bondage shop. Here are the details from Olson:

I just got the lease signed for my latest venture, Grim. Grim will be located at 1512 11th Ave within the former Grey Gallery/Lounge space. I fell in love with the heavy timber beams, exposed wood floors & ceiling height. It is an amazing location and we are looking forward to joining Purr, Vermilion and the Crypt on the block. Grim is being designed by Pb Elemental Architecture and plays off the warehouse/industrial history of the space while adding a unique edge. Grim will feature a street level lounge and dining area and a mezzanine that is designed for private functions.

When we reported last week on the lawsuit the building’s owner Matt Basta had filed against his former tenant Grey Gallery, the landlord said that he was close to having a new business in the space. Basta described the new tenant as “a local business person with experience in the bar and restaurant industry.” It’s an accurate description. Olson is the driver behind CHS advertiser Po Dog and its neighboring Auto Battery sports bar on the East Union backside of Pike/Pine. The opening of Grim will be her third major investment within three blocks.

The clues about the new venture began popping up on Facebook in recent days — here’s Grim’s page — and in the recently filed liquor license applications (looky at this smarty pants CHS commenter — maybe this one is onto something too). Now Olson has revealed that Grim is real. Olson tells CHS her team is finalizing the menu with plans to open in December.
