CHS crime reports: Have you seen Mat’s little brother’s bike?

A few notes this weekend sent in by neighbors about smaller crimes on Capitol Hill. Let’s see if we can help — or, at least, spread the word. Here’s a note from neighbor Mat about his brother’s stolen bike:

Unfortunately my little brother had his bike stolen off Capitol Hill (near 14th & Madison). We did not get a great feel the police would do anything about this, so were hopeful for perahps a little community help :/

This is a quite unique bike, and was a fairly expensive item he saved for a while to acquire. He had to go down to PDX to even get this model of bike. He is not able to replace it due to the cost. This was also his main source of transportaion to school and work.

I have included a picture below. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate.

If you have info for Mat, you can drop us a line at CHS@capitolhillseattle.com and we’ll get you connected. Meanwhile, here’s another note from an anonymous texter informing us of their woes at Federal and Mercer:

Two of my tires got slashed at federal and mercer two weeks ago, right outside my home. Then my bicycle got stolen at the same location later in the week. Nice.

Neighbor Clint also had a run-in with a meanie he wanted us — and you — to know about. He sent this mail to us late last week:

I know car break-ins are a dime a dozen on the Hill, but our car got broken into yesterday evening.  We were parked on 16th and Mercer and they smashed the back window in and stole some electronics.  A good reminder to never leave anything in plain site or keep anything of value in the car period.

Have information you want the Hill to know about? You can always reach us at CHS@capitolhillseattle.com or call/text (206) 399-5959. The CHS Forums Crime Reports section is also a good place to let others know about bad happenings in your neighborhood and help each other out.

  1. i was going to say, we cant really help spot the bike with the crappy little picture and no description in the article at all! It looks like there may be a word (brand? model?) on the tube, but who knows?

  2. My bad!

    And thanks for the look…

The bike is a red Novara Cruiser bike (7 speed) 2008 model
