In addition to freaking you the fork out about street robberies, CHS also serves some other useful purposes. Neighbor Tom writes:
Any news on the “I5 South Ramp Closed – Follow Detour” sign at Denny and Melrose? It’s not closed. Will it be in the future? I’m sure the sign is putting fear into the minds of many Hill commuters.
We checked with the Washington Depart of Transportation about Tom’s query and — at first — they were as confused as we were. WSDOT could confirm that no work was scheduled for that area of I-5 but the sign was a mystery.
But things move fast in Olympia. Today, not only did WSDOT spokesperson Kris Olsen confirm that the sign was inadvertently left up following work earlier this summer but she says that they’ve already had it removed mere hours after we brought it to their attention. So, Tom and fellow commuters, no worries. Your ramp is open for the foreseeable future. Now, back to those street robberies…
Are you making sarcastic remarks about people getting beaten up?
Seems like he’s adding some levity to the current reality on the Hill. This is a blog, not CNN. Lighten up Seattle Bear and remember that he’s the one bringing us this news in the first place.
I don’t think it’s sarcastic, but more of a reality. If we can’t laugh or find humor in disturbing things all we can do is sit in fear, anger, and sadness. There was nothing directed against the victim, but more toward the increasing trend in street robberies, which in itself is not funny.
