Stabbed man walks self to Group Health but can’t explain attack

Seattle Police say a man injured in an apparent knife attack who walked to the Group Health emergency room at 15th and Thomas while bleeding from his wounds Thursday afternoon was evasive in answering questions about the attack and vague about the suspect and the circumstances that led to the knife wound.

According to a SPD spokesperson, the man arrived at Group Health Thursday afternoon with a laceration on his back. After he received emergency treatment and was bandaged and prepared for transfer to Harborview, police were contacted due to the nature of the wound.

The responding officer reported that the suspect did not provide clear answers but did give a vague description of his assailant — a skinny white male with shaggy hair, the man told police. Also, when police checked the area where the man said the stabbing occurred, they didn’t find a blood trail that would be expected given the seriousness of the man’s cut.

According to the officer’s report, the victim has a record of drug convictions and was asked if the injuries were the result of a confrontation related to a drug transaction. The victim denied any involvement with drugs but could not explain who the man was or why he might have attacked.
