Capitol Club hosts Dunshee benefit to battle burglarizing Grinch

The community is rallying to support Capitol Hill’s Dunshee House after a costly burglary of the AIDS support group and service provider’s 17th Ave E headquarters. Tuesday night, the Capitol Club will host a benefit and auction to support Dunshee in a recovery of its own as it collects funds to recover from the burglary:

In [light] of the recent burglarization of the Dunshee House, The Capitol Club is throwing a charity wine tasting, silent auction, raffle, and party!! The Dunshee House has been serving the Seattle area with counltess counseling services to those living with or around HIV/AIDS since 1983!!!! Let’s get together our holiday cheer and help raise money for what was stolen and more!! $25 Wine Tasting 6-9PM; Silent Auction All Night; DJ & Dancing 10PM-Close!! 21+ / Invite all your friends…. SEE YOU THERE!!

Dunshee organizers say the biggest loss was the organization’s budget records that were stored on one of the three laptops stolen in the break-in. Insurance will probably cover the eventual replacement of the computers and other stolen items. Even so, it’s tough times for Hill non-profits — burglaries or no. Tuesday night at the Capitol Club, Dunshee will be getting a little more help. If you’d like to support Dunshee but can’t attend the benefit, you can visit their Web site http://www.dunsheehouse.org/ or their annual tree sale, one of three in the Capitol Hill area benefiting good causes.

The police report on the Dunshee burglary is below.
