CHS Pics: A Volunteer Park tradition

The Volunteer Park tradition to which we refer, of course, is getting your picture taken on the famous camels in front of the Seattle Asian Art Museum.

We’ve cropped his NSFW submission to keep things safe for work or whatever you might be doing right now that may or may not be nudity friendly, but thanks to photographer Frank Correa, the source of many of the more fashionably peculiar images that spin through the CHS Flickr pool, for this twist on a popular tourist (and locals, too) photo.

This caption of a Wikipedia photo of one of the camel statues details what we’ve read about the popular photo spots:

Reproduction of one of a pair of Ming-era Chinese camel sculptures in front of the Seattle Asian Art Museum, Volunteer Park, Seattle, Washington. The originals stood here for years, but major wear (largely from children “riding” the camels”) resulted in the originals now being indoors at the main downtown SAM.

My late father came here in early 1941, courtesy of the United States “enroll before you are drafted” board. I’ve added a picture of his first visit to CapHill. Of course he had to ride the camels!
