Think of it as the polar opposite of a Borders store. Owner Kris Minta tells us Capitol Hill independent book shop Spine and Crown will live on in a new location when it moves in with Wall of Sound just a little farther down East Pine in a few weeks. In November, Minta held a big sale to keep Spine and Crown in business. More on the move — and Minta’s gratitude, below.
A new tenant has been found for our space, so we’ll be leaving mid-February. Our last day in the current location is Friday, Feb. 11th. We re-open March 1st, sharing space with Wall of Sound records at 315 E. Pine. Currently, we’ve got a 20% off sale on everything to help downsize, with deeper discounts to come beginning Feb. 1st. However, the stock we’re taking with us down the street will have been removed by then, so coming by early ensures selection.
Everyone we’ve talked to over the last few months has been supportive of the move- and supportive of the shop financially. We owe Capitol Hill a debt of gratitude.
And given that we’re never mentioned in paper media, it’s really appreciated that CHS has taken an interest in the fate of the shop.
Wall of Sound is located at 315 East Pine.
I’ve been a customer of Kris’ for about a year now. I love his store. I love the books he carries. And will most definitely continue being his customer at his new spot. Here are a few photos I took of the store and of Kris last week.
