Want to live in a Capitol Hill ‘bungalow’ cottage? One’s for rent

Did you read our recent post about this hidden-away cluster of cottages in the heart of Capitol Hill?

One of my favorite recent discoveries is a cluster of eight cottages tightly arranged on what appears to be a typical (Capitol Hill), 5000 square foot lot. Built in 1920, these eight lovely homes, lying somewhere west of Broadway, are real gems, should you be lucky enough to happen upon them.

There are other clusters of cottages on the Hill that we’ve written about in the past. According to this Craigslist posting (that references CHS no less!), one of these 1-bedroom “living small” cottages is currently for rent:

1 bedroom cottage condo with a small loft in the heart of Capitol Hill. What’s a cottage condo? No neighbors above or below, just on the sides—think one story townhouse with classic charm and unique personality. Plus you get your own garden plot. Here’s a local article about us: http://www.capitolhillseattle.com/2009/02/05/all-about-urban

14 foot ceilings + a loft that is perfect as a guest or TV room. Beautiful patio and your own p-patch sized garden area. Hardwood floors, slate floors in kitchen, ceramic tile in the bathroom. Modern fixtures throughout, plus the kitchen has stainless steel appliances (dishwasher, refrigerator, wine cabinet, microwave, and gas range/oven), granite counter tops, and lots of storage. Electric heating throughout. Washer/dryer downstairs in shared laundry room – no charge.

Come to this Capitol Hill condo and enjoy the good life! Walk one block to Broadway restaurants, and stores. Walk 5 blocks to 15th Ave restaurants and stores. You’re 4 blocks from Volunteer Park and 4 blocks from Cal Anderson Park as well as the Pike/Pine restaurant district. Close to downtown? Heck yeah! It’s a 10 minute walk to Westlake Center and Pacific Place. Seattle University, and Seattle Central are just blocks away.

Garbage, sewer, water, and home owner’s dues included in your rent. Also included is an 8 x 8 secure storage area on-site. Utilities and cable/internet not included, but the place is wired for the modern Seattlite, with high-speed internet and cable outlets in every room (except the bathroom—boundaries people!)

Only street parking available, but parking can be rented nearby if you need it. Plus there are Zip cars and bus-lines close by on Broadway.

$1,500 per month gets you a tiny house in the middle of the Hill and a p-patch.

Nice, that is one of the best written Craigslist ads I have seen. It would be cool to live somewhere with a ladder!

The cottages you wrote about most recently are on Summit in the 700 block. Appears the one in today’s craigslist posting is a block east of Broadway. Cute little clutter of homes. I hope somebody cool and fun rents it
