She has no tiger blood and isn’t a total rock star from Mars but Capitol Hill has a Charlie that could use some help. A group of friends is rallying around the French bulldog for a Friday night benefit to cover expensive knee surgery.
Here’s a note from Charlie’s posse leader, Leigh Riibe:
A few months ago, Charlie tore a ligament in her knee (CCL) and is in need of surgery. The surgery alone will cost around $1300. The medical expenses that go along with her injury and recovery are seemingly impossible to afford. As her provider, I decided to get creative since giving her up is not an option for me.
All proceeds from Charlie has a Posse Gear will go into Charlie’s Medical Fund so she can get the care she needs and deserves. Anything raised above and beyond her needs will be donated to non-profit organizations Cascade Bulldog Rescue and Itty Bitty Kitty Committee.http://charliehasaposse.com

Tis true there are bigger worries on the planet. But considering the amount of pixels spilled over another Charlie this week, please indulge a moment of CHS softness. Plus, we probably are on the hook for a bit of karmic balance after the skinned squirrel post.
Come enjoy coffee, wine, music, and the company of friends and strangers at Arabica Lounge on Friday March 4th from 7-10PM. Special guest appearance by Charlie, the lady of the evening.

A very special thanks to Shan Thorson for helping organize this event!

If my granddad were still alive, his solution to this problem would involve a burlap sack and a canal.
and of course I wouldnt agree with him, just sayin!! :-)
Hey, whatever works, right? I sincerely hope it does in this case. When I was in school my boyfriend had a pet duck who he adored and vice versa- he’d follow him all over campus and come to work as well. He fractured a bone in his foot and we found a vet to make a little cast for him (most people would just eat the darling). The bill was a lot for two college kids (I think $300) and we did something similar- silkscreened patches and shirts and sold them on campus for the medical bill. All worked out.
Good luck to you and I’ll try to stop by and grab something for the effort.
Just in case anybody is curious — you can make a donation without buying merch or going to the fundraiser. I sent a little money their way because I know how miserable I’d feel if I couldn’t afford a procedure my dog needed.
There’s a paypal donate button on the charlie has a posse website.
I couldn’t make the benefit. What happened? Where are they in the fundraising effort?
