Passerby points the way as police nab Pike shoe store robbery suspect

A suspect on the run after a knifepoint East Pike shoe store robbery Friday night didn’t get very far.

Seattle Police busted the heavyset suspect in a nearby alley after a man matching his description had held up the shoe store at 307 East Pike around 6 PM Friday. The witness from the store said the knife-carrying man wearing a backwards black baseball cap made off with $60 and headed southbound on Minor Ave.

According to police radio reports, a passerby flagged down an officer searching the area for the suspect and said the man might be in a nearby alley. There the officer found the suspect and placed him under arrest. The victim was brought to the scene and identified the suspect as the man who had robbed the store.
